October 4, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Welcome to Dialectic Magazine. This is a new online magazine that will have a wide ranging focus on the endless interaction of conflicting ideas that make up the rich paradoxical nature of experience. There are many types of paradox. In and through each and every paradox what is being sought after, found, processed, or realized is some measure of what is true. The more we can bring an awareness of what is true in our lives, what is authentic, the more we can enrich our intellectual, psychological, and spiritual experience of the here and now. Articles, essays, interviews, poetry, prose, fiction... [Read the full story]

Media and Our Values – The Stakes are Very High

Media and Our Values – The Stakes are Very High

March 27, 2010 · Leave a Comment

We are currently on the cusp of the old world and a new cultural frontier. The present generation of parents were raised with the old values that led Americans and Canadians to the forefront of modern civilization. But are we currently going backwards as a culture and a civilization? The effect of media on our values is increasing and not for the better.    It seems that we are thoroughly corrupted by our profit-driven popular culture because of the values that we learned when popular culture wasn’t so  ubiquitous or powerful. But what will happen currently when our kids’ values... [Read the full story]

From Psychobabble to Biobabble – Mental Illness and Medication Mind Candy

Email This Post Medication for mental illness at the alarming rate it is being prescribed is nothing more than dangerous mind candy. Mind candy that cannot effectively address most challenges in mental illness. If one pathologizes mental illness in the narrow and rigid ways of psychiatry and its pseudo-science then one might want to fall in line with the illusion that pills are the long-sought after cure-all. However, they are not any cure-all whatsoever. When mental illness and its suffering are viewed from a different perspective it becomes much more clear that human beings do experience... [Read the full story]

by John E. Wade II, Editor of How to Achieve Heaven on Earth: 101 insightful essays from the world’s greatest thinkers, leaders and writers We are currently in the innovation age as demonstrated by the fact that humankind’s knowledge is doubling every ten years, and probably more so in technology. America can thrive in an age like this. Why? Let me give you ten good reasons. America is a nation of immigrants who came here for a better life for the most part. Therefore they have the genes to initiate changes in business, education, computers, the Internet and practically all the fields... [Read the full story]

The Power of Brainstorming Groups

The Power of Brainstorming Groups

April 12, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Have you ever spent hours trying to decide how to proceed with a project you’ve been working on? Probably most of us could nod our heads in agreement. Yet start explaining your problem to someone else and suddenly your next steps become obvious. That simple act of discussion seems to trigger ideas. I’ve found that one of the fastest ways to get myself to take action is by brainstorming with another person or a group of people. All of that extra brainpower can do some amazing things. I was at a one-day workshop recently and each participant was asked to mention a project they were working on.... [Read the full story]

Balloon Boy Heene Family and Reality TV

October 18, 2009 · 1 Comment

Colorado Sheriff Jim Alderden reported today, in a news conference, that not only was the Balloon Boy a hoax but apparently a scam possibly backed and funded by a reality television show. The television show or reality-tv outlet or company was not named. It would seem that more details are likely still to come about the actual motivation of this entire hoax. The Sheriff said he believed there’d been on-going dialogue between the Heene family and some reality tv producers about what it would take to be on a show. There is thought that this evolved out of the Heene family’s recent... [Read the full story]

Grief – A Process of Gaining Perspective and Coping

Grief is what it is. Grief is a part of life. Grief is a process that unfolds whenever we suffer, experience, or feel loss. Some reasons for grief are obvious – the death of a loved one, loss of a job or relationship, for example. Reasons for grief can be subtle – unfinished emotional baggage from childhood interfering...

Links Between Brothers: Ernest and Leicester Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway and his brother Leicester Hemingway have a lot in common. Each died by his own hand.  Both were writers.
